UOne of the most recognized black voices in Brazil, Conceição Evaristo was in Óbidos at the Folio festival to, for the first time, launch two of her works, “Olhos d’Água” and “Canção para Ninar Menino Grande”. He said he found in Portugal an opportunity to experience another side of history. The 77-year-old writer and academic tells how literature chose her and how, even as a child, she intuited that life was bigger than the favela. Now he has achieved a status that allows him to claim a reading beyond biography.
