Almonda 285: the geological discovery of the year in Portugal
There are 285 meters of absolute depth. Cave immersion is carried out in two parts: there is a water crossing of a first siphon that ends dry and which requires a transition, on foot, to a second siphon.
The 197 and a half meter dive adds almost 90 meters of descent with material on your back.
The Almonda Novo exploration project was born from conversations between Rui Luís, a speleodiver, and Armando Ribeiro, the most experienced Portuguese deep-sea diver.
In this exploration, new galleries were discovered and kilometers of underground labyrinths were mapped in Almonda, the most studied cave in the country.
