“Beyoncé was providing her star power” to the campaign of Kamala, the conventional candidate who has been eclipsed by Trump’s actions

“Freedom, freedom!”/”Painting white flags blue.” The verses from her song “Freedom” are now a small loan that Beyoncé made to Kamala Harris’ campaign. On Friday night, the American artist went above and beyond in her support. I’m not here as a celebrity, I’m not here as a politician; I’m here as a mother,” said Beyoncé, during Kamala Harris’ campaign rally in Houston, Texas. “A mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we are not divided. Imagine our daughters growing up seeing what is possible without limits, without limits. We should vote, and we need you.”

Beyoncé, who was joined on stage by her Destiny’s Child bandmate Kelly Rowland, was the one who introduced Harris: “Ladies and gentlemen, please give a Texan welcome to the next president of the United States, Vice President Kamala Harris .” The singer’s statement was accompanied by another idea: that the country was about to make history.

“Beyoncé does not have the mass appeal that Taylor Swift has, so her impact will be limited, focusing mainly on African-American women”, David Allan, professor of Marketing at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, tells Expresso. But “Miss Americana” did not make campaign appearances in favor of Harris.

“Beyoncé was providing her star power at rallies. Taylor Swift focused on voter registration, and Beyoncé went deeper in her endorsement. She has been more active lately – speaking out and mobilizing – as Harris has used her to get African-American men to rallies and get them to vote, as this is a demographic Harris has struggled with from the start of your career.”
