The candidates for the most prestigious award in the automotive industry in our country are now known. The winning model will be honored with the title of winner of the Direct Insurance Car of the Year/Volante de Cristal Trophy 2025succeeding the BYD Seal, winner of the 2024 edition.
In one of the most competitive editions of all time, we received a total of 67 entries, with candidates divided into eight classes, with different models and versions, of which 38 are candidates for the title of winner of the Seguro Direto Car of the Year/Troféu Volante of Crystal 2025 .
There will be a total of eight classes: City, Design, Sports/Leisure, Electric, Family, Plug-in Hybrid, Compact SUV (includes crossovers) and Large SUV. One of the new features of this edition is the class Designwhich has eight candidates.
Maintaining the tradition of previous editions, the organization will once again select a set of innovative and technologically advanced devices that can directly benefit driving and the driver, which will be appreciated and subsequently voted on by the judges to determine the winner of the Innovation and Technology Award.
The Executive Committee will also once again distinguish the Personality of the Yearsomeone who, through their professional participation and commitment, unequivocally contributes to the development of the automotive sector in Portugal.
Dynamic testing ends at the end of January 2025
19 jurorsrepresenting the main media bodies in our country, are preparing to begin dynamic tests with the different models in competition.
In this year’s edition we welcome four new judges:
José Caetano (E-Auto), Rúben Valente (Notícias ao Minuto), Rui Pelejão (Record) and Sara Figueiredo Santos (Correio da Manhã).
The winner of the Direct Car Insurance of the Year/Troféu Volante de Cristal 2025, as well as the winners of the various classes, will be announced in March 2025.
