BRICS are already worth more than the seven largest developed economies in the world combined

The bloc of nine current BRICS members is already worth more than the G7, the group of the seven largest developed economies in the world, even including the entire European Union. In the accounts of Expressaccording to new calculations presented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the World Economic Outlook (WEO) this week, the nine BRICS economies are now worth 36.4% of world GDP, while the G7 (including the entire European Union) is up by 36.3%.

The difference is one tenth, but it is symbolic, at a time when the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, which took place practically during the same period as the IMF general assembly that closes on Saturday in Washington DC, ends.
