Bruce Springsteen mourns the death of Liam Payne: “The music industry puts too much pressure on young people”

Bruce Springsteen left much criticism of the music industry following the death of Liam Payne.

In an interview with the newspaper “The Telegraph”, Springsteen admitted that deaths like that of the former One Direction member “are not rare in this industry”. “It’s normal: it’s an industry that puts a lot of pressure on young people,” he said.

“Young people are not intimately or spiritually prepared to protect themselves from many of the things that come with success and fame. So they lose themselves in very difficult and painful things, whether drugs or alcohol, to free themselves from this pressure.”

The “Boss” drew a parallel with his own experience: “I also had to fight a lot. Drugs were present in the E Street Band.” Which forced Springsteen to draw some “red lines”: “I didn’t mind other people’s business, but if they were on stage and you noticed they weren’t 100%, there was a problem. So I drew a line around that stage: people had to be relatively sober and at their best.”

“One of the things I’m most proud of is that those of me who have already died died of natural causes,” he continued. “People continue to fall for it, but it is a death cult. Young people are attracted to that, but dying young won’t do anything for you, it’ll only be good for the record company.”

Liam Payne, it is worth remembering, died on October 16th in Buenos Aires, after falling from the third floor of the hotel where he was staying. In the former One Direction’s room several objects were detected which indicate that the musician consumed drugs before the tragedy.
