Climate crisis: “No more hot air, please”, calls on the UN, given the continuous rise in emissions

Instead of decreasing, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions continue to rise and humanity seems to want to continue breaking all records when it comes to climate change. Between 2022 and 2023, global emissions increased by 1.3%, reaching a record 57.1 gigatons of CO2 equivalent (GtCO2eq), which increasingly narrows the window of opportunity for action, warns the 2024 Emissions Gap Report (Emissions Gap Report 2024)this Thursday presented by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
