Joaquim Caetano leaves his position as director of the National Museum of Ancient Art
The current director of the National Museum of Ancient Art (MNAA) did not run for reelection to the international competition that will select the museum’s next director, whose registration phase ended this Wednesday.
“On January 15th, the Museum’s new board of directors will take office. I will, therefore, return on that date to my role as conservator of the painting collection”, declared Joaquim Caetano, in a letter sent internally, to which Expresso had access. “This is not a farewell, and I will continue my work in this house that I entered on December 2, 1991, almost 33 years ago.”
