Marcelo condemns attack in Türkiye in message sent to Erdogan

The head of state, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, today sent a message of condolences and condolences to the president of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, for the attack near Ankara, which he strongly condemned.

This information is contained in a note published on the official website of the Presidency of the Republic on the Internet, which reads that Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa expressed to Erdogan “heartfelt condolences and deep regret for the tragic consequences of the heinous attack carried out today against the facilities of an aerospace company, in Ankara region, which caused the death of four people and many injuries.”

“In the message, the President of the Republic strongly condemned this vile and barbaric act and expressed his solidarity with the Turkish people and, in particular, the fatal victims and their families”, says the same note.

According to the Turkish Government, it was a terrorist attack that targeted the headquarters of the Turkish aeronautics and defense industries, near the capital of Türkiye.

“Two terrorists were neutralized in the terrorist attack against the Tusas company facilities in Ankara. Unfortunately, in the attack, four people died and 14 were injured,” wrote Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on the X social network.

Previously, Ali Yerlikaya indicated that there was an explosion triggered by a “suicide bomber”.

In Kazan, Russia, where he is participating in the summit of the BRICS group of emerging economies, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reported four deaths and condemned the “heinous attack”.

“We have four martyrs. We have 14 injured. I condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish mercy to our martyrs,” Erdogan said during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Kazan, Russia.

The secretary general of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Mark Rutte, expressed the political-military organization’s solidarity with Turkey, after the attack on the aeronautics and defense complex.

“I just spoke to Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the terrorist attack in Ankara. My message was clear: NATO is with Turkey”, declared Mark Rutte, on the X social network.

The Secretary General of NATO considered that “the news about deaths and injuries” in Ankara is worrying and condemned on behalf of the Atlantic Alliance “terrorism in all its forms”.

“We are closely monitoring these events,” added the former prime minister of the Netherlands, who began his role at NATO less than a month ago.
