Salgado: the man accused of autocratic power in the Espírito Santo Group was forced to go to court, he was confronted, but he will not return

He arrived hand in hand with his wife, Maria João Salgado, with slow and limited steps, wearing blue slip-on sneakers. This was how Ricardo Salgado walked a small stone path to the entrance of building A of the Justice Campus, in Lisbon, which lasted more than five minutes.

Without police protection, and with a group of journalists, photographers and camcorders around him, the former banker, now suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, took an even longer journey because an injured person from Banco Espírito Santo appeared in front of him.

In the courtroom, he identified himself, gave non-specific answers (he knew his name, got confused with one of his mother’s names), left and was dismissed from returning.
