Ricardo Salgado, law and customs

The BES trial begins today and it’s about time. Many people will sit on the bench of the accused, but the attention will be focused on the ex-DDT (Owner of Disto Tudo), Ricardo Salgado, a person who was at times powerful, arrogant and, from my point of view, not at all friendly. Few will have any doubts about his guilt; a series of people will be at the courthouse door to complain about the fact that they have been cheated by the bank of the almighty DDT (although that is another story); none of the many who have benefited from your conduct (from government officials to diligent shoeshine boys) will be supporting you. He will enter oblivious, leaning on his wife, or already in a wheelchair, and will be inside the room because the judge presiding over the trial refused a request for dismissal, presented by the ex-banker’s defense.
