Armed man with fake pass detained at Donald Trump rally

Donald Trump was once again under threat on Saturday, at a presidential campaign rally in California.

An armed man with a fake access pass was detained outside the Republican candidate’s rally in Coachella, California, Riverside County police revealed.

Local authorities and Riverside County police have identified the suspect. According to the BBC, this is a man identified as Vam Miller, aged 49, and was arrested for illegal possession of weapons at a checkpoint that gave access to the event where Trump was preparing to speak. He had illegal weapons and a fake credential to enter the rally. US media outlets report that Trump did not suffer any injuries.

Suspect will be Republican

The man, originally from Las Vegas, was heading to the event in an SUV, where he was carrying “a firearm, a shotgun and a high-capacity magazine,” Riverside County police say. He was stopped in a Stop operation. And he is being held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center. County Sheriff Chad Bianco said the suspect, Vam Miller, is a Republican voter and belongs to a radical right-wing “anti-government” organization.

“This incident did not affect the safety of former President Trump or those attending the event,” the sheriff’s department said, as cited by NBC. And no injuries were reported nor were there any shots fired. But the county sheriff, Chad Bianco, told the local press that a third assassination attempt on the Republican candidate for the White House could be at stake.

The suspect was carrying a VIP and a press credential, both of which were fake. “They were so different that they caused alarm to the agents,” explained the sheriff.

In a country under tension, and with two candidates fighting head to head for the position of US president, Trump and Khama Harris, there have already been two attempted attacks on the Republican candidate in the last two months.

In July, Trump escaped with just a small wound to his right ear at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The shooter was killed by authorities, and a Trump supporter died. In September, the former US president was once again the target of a new assassination attempt while playing golf at his resort in Florida.
