President of the Sagres Council dies at age 47, three days of municipal mourning decreed

The president of the Sagres Parish Council, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, Clésio Ricardo, died, on Saturday, at the age of 47, victim of a heart attack, and the local council today decreed three days of municipal mourning.

“Clésio Ricardo was president of the Sagres Parish Council since October 9, 2021, a position he held with enormous commitment, availability and dedication to the Parish and its population during the exercise of his municipal functions”, can be read in the message from regret published on the Vila do Bispo City Council website.

Coach of Clube Recreativo Infante de Sagres, Clésio Ricardo “died after suffering a heart attack during a veterans’ game”, said the Portuguese Football Federation, in a note of condolence published online, in which he recalled that Ricardo had become a paraplegic in 2011 and “regained his motivation in football, guiding the youth teams of CR Infante de Sagres for several seasons”.

A farewell message from the mayor’s president was published on the Parish Council’s Facebook page: “See you always, great Clésio”.

Elected by the independent movement Somos Pelo Concelho — Vila do Bispo to the parish council, where he had previously been secretary, he was remembered by this political force as “a man [cuja] strength to break barriers and overcome obstacles will forever be remembered”.

“He leaves us an immense and unforgettable legacy, as mayor, as a community leader, as a football coach, as a friend, as a person”, concluded the movement, in a message published on the social network Facebook.
