Iran warns the US that its troops could be in danger if they go to Israel

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned the United States today that its troops would be “in danger” if they went to Israel to manage the THAAD anti-aircraft system.

“The United States has sent a record number of weapons to Israel. Now, they are putting the lives of their troops in danger by sending them to manage an American missile system in Israel,” said Araghchi, in a message published on social network X.

The minister assured that the Iranians made a “huge effort, in recent days, to contain an open war” in the region, but that Iran “has no red lines” when it comes to defending “its people and its interests”.

The message is accompanied by a graphic that reflects in dollars all the military aid provided by the United States to Israel since 1960.

Israeli media reported in the last few hours, citing North American sources, that Washington is studying the possibility of sending the advanced “Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD)” system to Israel to protect its ally in the event of an attack. most powerful Iranian.

Israel announced that it will respond to the October 1 attack, when Iran launched around 200 projectiles, including ballistic missiles, against Israeli territory and, taking this Israeli response for granted, the United States is studying defensive formulas for the next wave of retaliation.

A North American official confirmed to The Times of Israel that they are studying the possible deployment of THAAD, but that a decision has not yet been made on the matter.

An April Congressional report specified that the United States has seven THAAD defense system batteries, considered complementary to the Patriot system, but with greater range, between 150 and 200 kilometers.

Each battery consists of six truck-mounted buses with 48 interceptors, radio and radar and requires 95 soldiers to operate.
