“On the street they ask me: ‘Wait a minute, aren’t you that guy who sings ‘I like summer’? Nobody knows exactly who Manuel João Vieira is”

Undisputed leader of Ena Pá 2000 and Irmãos Catita, among other parallel universes, Manuel João Vieira completes 40 years of career with a new album. Two years after “Anatomia do Fado”, he has just presented “O Tempo das Andorinhas: Canções de Dor de Corno”, an album of original compositions mostly written by him and Fernando Brito.

Guest on the most recent edition of the Posto Emissor podcast, the musician states that, for the sake of recognition, it would have been easier to release an album by Ena Pá 2000, perhaps his most popular band: “I have this stubbornness of wanting to do things that are a little different from Every now and then I go half blind banging my head against the walls.”

“On the street they ask me: ‘Wait a minute, aren’t you that guy who sings ‘I like summer’? [interpretada por João Melo, vocalista da banda A Fúria do Açúcar] Nobody knows exactly who Manuel João Vieira is, he’s a hell of a name.”
