Lisbon: homeless people removed from Jardim da Igreja dos Anjos and hosted in hostels for an indefinite period. Chamber assumes expenses
In his speech at the opening of the celebrations of the Establishment of the Republic, in Lisbon, Carlos Moedas announced that he had managed to remove the homeless people who lived in the area of Igreja dos Anjos, more specifically in the António Feijó garden, to temporarily relocate them to hostels. The cost of the stay is borne by the municipality, but the mayor of Lisbon did not disclose how much the measure costs, nor whether there is a deadline for leaving the hostels.
According to a local source contacted by SAPO, “it is still too early to be able to assume how long they will stay”, however, guaranteeing that “people will be accompanied by technical and integrated teams”. The same information was officially confirmed to Expresso by the Parish Council and the Lisbon City Council.
