European: rising cost of living and access to healthcare were the concerns that led more Portuguese people to the polls

The increase in the cost of living and access to healthcare and social protection were the two factors that most drove Portuguese people to the polls in the last European elections, in June this year. These are the conclusions of the new Eurobarometer “EU 2024 Post-Election Survey”, published this Thursday, which analyzes voting behavior and the main concerns of European Union (EU) citizens.

In Portugal, the rising prices and the cost of living worries 59% of citizens, similar to EU citizenswho also chose this option as the most relevant (42%). THE social protection, social security and access to healthcare were the second theme (51%) that motivated more Portuguese people to vote in the European elections. While for EU Member States, the second most worrying issue is the economic situation (41%).
