Frankie Valli reacts after videos that show him performing ‘playback’: “No one is forcing me to go on stage”

Singer Frankie Valli issued a statement in which he responded to his fans, after several videos were released that appear to show him doing playback.

In the videos, Valli, 90, also appears to be having difficulty following the music. On social media, fans expressed concern about his health, wondering whether the singer was somehow being forced to act: “I love him, but this isn’t right”, it read.

For his part, Valli, known for the classic ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’, with the Four Seasons, reacted to the criticism through a statement published by “People” magazine. “I know that a lot of things have been said about me on the internet, so I want to clarify them”, he says.

“I feel blessed to be 90 years old and still be able to do what I love. As long as I can do this, as long as the public wants to see me, I will be on stage as usual. I love what I do. And I know we put on a great show because the fans show up in droves.”

“The Four Seasons’ sound has always been about layering the voice and instruments. We draw on our 60 years of experience, which is why we sound on the records”, he continued. “I have singers who sing, great arrangements… All of that. I laugh at these types of comments. Nobody is forcing me to go on stage. No one has ever forced me to do anything I didn’t want to do.”
