The last months of Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington’s life, told in a new book

Jason Lipshutz, Director of Music at Billboard, will release a new book about Linkin Park. Titled “It Starts With One: The Legend and Legacy of Linkin Park”, the book explores Chester Bennington’s problems with addiction, as well as his final months of life.

According to Lipshutz, Chester had confessed to his friends, shortly before he died, that he was fighting the urge to drink alcohol again. Ryan Shuck, guitarist for Dead By Sunrise, Chester’s side project, was one of those confidants.

The autopsy revealed the presence of alcohol in Chester Bennington’s blood, with Talinda, the musician’s widow, later stating that the relapse “would fill him with shame”.

In the book, which comes out on October 1st, Lipshutz also adds that it is impossible to determine what led Chester Bennington to take his own life: “There are no easy answers, nor will there ever be”.
