Arce and Lijó leave Los Mágicos without their first final

Adrián “Tito” Allemandi and Martín Abud became the first finalists of the Madrid Villa de Móstoles Open. The South American couple came back against Maxi Sánchez and Fede Chiostri after tying the match in sets in a tie break in which their rivals forgave a favorable 4-2 situation on the scoreboard. The match ended with a victory for couple 4 by 3/6, 7/6 and 6/1.

In the match there were several common elements that had occurred during the week: many doubts with the shot, slow play and a very erratic Martín Abud. Sánchez-Chiostri’s start was energetic, so much so that he had options to make it 3-0. However, the golden point of that challenge would fall on the side of couple 4, who signed a partial of three games in a row to give him the return to the scoreboard (3-2). As the match went on, Sánchez-Chiostri maintained a comfortable pace of play and gained points with aggressive net play. On the other side of the net, Allemandi was the one who put his partner on his back because his partner could not find consistency. This lack of regularity was taken advantage of by the Argentine duo to break in the seventh game and add their serve to get the set back on track. Finally, Sánchez-Chiostri would end up winning the golden point in the ninth game of the first set and winning 6/3.

Due to the Allemandi-Abud score they had to appear in the second round with another version on the track. Said and done, the one who appeared in the Móstoles Bullring was Martín Abud. The Paraguayan player reduced his errors and withstood the volume of ball that was raining down on him point by point. A situation that led to a breakup of the South American couple in the first game. However, the advantage was gone in the next game, although pair 4 would find the break again in the fifth game and their rivals would equalize in the eighth (4-4). Beyond the ups and downs of the two couples, Abud-Allemandi had the task of coping with their serves to avoid leaving the match. At those moments, Abud’s doubts reappeared and he just faced with his service to force the tie break of the second set. A tie break that would occur and that would be marked by constant play, as was usual during the set, in the play of the backhand players: Martín Abud and Maxi Sánchez Blasco. In addition to that duel in the cross, there were moments of suspense due to an injury to Adrián “Tito” Allemandi, who resumed the tiebreaker with 4-2 in favor of Sánchez-Chisotri. Despite everything, a confident Abud and a doubtful Sánchez led to the set point being won by Allemandi on the only ball he touched after the restart. The first finalist was going to be defined in the third and final round.

In the third set, the emotional blow of the second set was noticeable in the first moments, with Sánchez-Chiostri who could not find the tactical path and Allemandi-Abud took a step forward, managing to break in the fourth game. A situation that increased Sánchez-Chiostri’s lack of harmony and that added to the fact that the Dereaux player left the game completely. Finally, Abud-Allemandi had free rein to reach the final, winning the third set 6/1.

Arcé-Lijó surprises and knocks Los Mágicos out of the final in Madrid

Maxi Arce and Pablo Lijó beat Gonza Alfoso and Leonel Tolito Aguirre in the semifinals of the Madrid Villa de Móstoles Open. Both couples provided a high level of padel in almost three hours of play. The balance was tipped for couple 3 of the tournament in three sets (7/6, 4/6 and )

From the first moment the pace of the match was frenetic and showed that both couples could perfectly have faced each other in the final. Aguirre-Alfonso got off to a strong start, breaking serve in the first game on golden point. It was in another golden ball, in the third game, in which they wasted the opportunity to go 3-0 and serve. However, Arce-Lijó recovered the break and the Spanish player began to grow with the shot while Arce avoided playing lobs on Alfonso. These events led to the match reaching the tenth game tied (5-5). Right in the eleventh, Maxi Arce had several precipitations that caused errors and break balls that Los Mágicos would take advantage of to go up 6-5 and serve. However, Lijó’s shot appeared on the scene to send the set to a tie break after always being behind on the scoreboard. The tiebreaker went to Arce-Lijó (7-6), who were much more solid and achieved a break in the seventh point that gave them the advantage to take the set.

In the second round the script of equality was not going to change in the slightest. It is true that Los Mágicos took a step forward to restart the set by breaking in the fourth game. However, Arce-Lijó played a more defensive game that extended the points and left great exchanges on the central court of the Plaza de Toros de Móstoles. The work of the 3rd pair of the tournament made them break their rivals’ serve in the seventh game, but they suffered a counterbreak afterwards that left them on the ropes (5-3 to the rest). But the game was strange and Aguirre-Alfonso were not completely comfortable. In fact, they lost their serve and the option of winning the set with their service, but amidst everything that was changing in the match, Aguirre-Alfonso broke in the tenth game to win the second set 6/4. We went back to third in the second semi-final.

A third set that started well for Arce-Lijó by breaking in the first game and they even had the option of breaking in the third, but the golden ball went to the number 1, who later recovered the break by breaking the service of their rivals ( 2-2). After saving the delicate situation, Aguirre-Alfonso gave up conservative padel and let loose on the court. A change that would allow them to make a break in the sixth game and reach the ninth game with their serve to win the match. However, Arce-Lijó showed the courage that they had lacked during the set and managed to give life to the match by breaking their rivals (4-5 and serve). Subsequently, a very high level from Maxi Arce led to equality in the tenth game (5-5), a break in the eleventh (6-5) and they consecrated the comeback and their pass to the final, closing the set 7/5.

The final of the Madrid Villa de Móstoles Open by Tizona Sport will be played in the Plaza de Toros de Móstoles, at 12:00 p.m., between Adrián “Tito” Allemandi and Martín Abud against Maxi Arce and Pablo Lijó.
