Highway 25 (A25) is closed in both directions, in the Celorico da Beira area, Guarda district, due to an accident whose severity is yet to be determined, said a GNR source.
“The A25 is completely closed in both directions. We still don’t know the severity of the injuries”, a source from Public Relations at the General Command of the GNR told the Lusa agency, at 3:25 pm this Saturday.
A source from GNR da Guarda only said that the authorities are providing security conditions at the site so that a helicopter from the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) can land there, without providing further details about the road collision, as it is “premature” .
According to the sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection command of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, the alert for a road collision at kilometer 149 of the A25, in the downward direction of Guarda-Viseu, was given at 2:25 pm.
On site, in relief operations, there are 39 operational personnel and 14 firefighters from Guarda and Celorico da Beira and GNR and the INEM helicopter.
