“We’re not rewriting the band’s history, it’s a new chapter”: Mike Shinoda addresses the Linkin Park reunion

Mike Shinoda discussed Linkin Park’s reunion and vocalist Emily Armstrong’s addition to the group during an interview with BBC Radio 1.

The musician revealed that he met Armstrong in 2019. “We composed some things, we played around a bit. I wanted to meet her more than to compose with her”, he said.

“At one point, me, Joe [Hahn] e o Dave [Farrell] We started spending more time together. It was not our intention to return to the band. This process took place slowly.”

Shinoda hopes that Linkin Park’s new album, due out in November, will help the public understand that “we are not rewriting history, it is a new chapter in the group’s life”.

“The previous chapter was incredible, I love it, but it’s over. Emily isn’t trying to be Chester, she’s not trying to be anyone else. It’s her own, and that’s why it works.”
