Journey defends vocalist and blames Avenged Sevenfold for the disaster at Rock In Rio

Journey defended their singer, Arnel Pinena, after his criticized performance during a concert at the 2024 edition of Rock In Rio.

The musician, remember, even made his place available, leaving his departure or remaining in the group in the hands of the fans, who voted mostly for the latter.

This is an opinion shared by drummer Deen Castronovo and guitarist Neal Schon, who defended their bandmate on social media. “The voice is a biological instrument; is subject to time, tiredness, a virus, bacteria, jet lag. Sometimes he doesn’t cooperate when necessary,” Deen pointed out. “What sense does it make to destroy a human being for something they have no control over?”

Schon even pointed the finger at Avenged Sevenfold, who performed on the same day: “they greatly limited our sound. Almost nothing came out of the columns,” he said. “It was a bullshit decision.”
