Mr Lourenço, the dean of travel – almost 90 years old, goes to the office every day, which generates a €30 million business in Portugal

He has already lost count of the trips he has made in his life – which will be a long one, as he will turn 89 in August. Fernando Lourenço, owner of the tour operator Lusanova (known to everyone as ‘Mister Lourenço’), continues to go to the office every day and monitor the business in detail, despite having the company’s management assured by his son, Luís Lourenço (who serves as CEO) and by his grandson, Tiago Encarnção (operations director).

“I have this in good shape, thank God. But it gives me pleasure to come here every day, because of the love I have for this business, I want to keep that taste alive, and people can’t stop,” emphasizes the owner of Lusanova, who this year is preparing to achieve a business of more than €30 million in Portugal, in addition to a turnover of the same value in Brazil.

“The trips I have taken in my life have all been for commercial purposes and for business purposes†, highlights Mr. Lourenço, noting that, even on vacation, “I always take advantage of the trips to do something, and our type of business requires permanent contact with hoteliers and other suppliers†.
