Rocha devalues the risk of IL statutes not changing, Cotrim calls for “maturity”: “The current ones did not stop the party from growing”
Upon arrival at Europarque, in Santa Maria da Feira, where the VIII Convention of the Liberal Initiative (IL) is taking place this weekend, Rui Rocha expressed optimism about the internal debate, but downplayed the possibility of none of the Global proposals to change the party’s statutes be approved, considering that the current statutes have not impeded the party’s growth.
âI understand that the statutes that were presented by the National Council make progress towards greater party agility. But the current statutes, ultimately, did not prevent IL from growing, to enter in Parliaments where it was not present, to grow in the number of deputies in the Assembly of the Republic (AR), first from zero, then to one, then to eight, to elect the first two deputies to the European Parliament (EP),†said Rui Rocha, in statements to journalists.
