Competition prohibits Vodafone’s purchase of Nowo alleging “significant obstacles to competition” and penalizing consumers
Vodafone Portugal waited nineteen months for the Competition Authority’s decision to purchase Nowo, and for many months it had been hoping that the decision would be negative, despite having presented four packages of remedies. The Competition Authority announced this Thursday that it is prohibiting the Vodafone/Nowo merger operation as it considers that it presents significant obstacles to competition and harms consumers.
Vodafone has already reacted, just to confirm that it was notified and is analyzing the decision. “Vodafone confirms that it has been notified by the Competition Authority (AdC) about the final decision that prohibits the acquisition of Nowo, and is currently analyzing its grounds”, he told Express official company source.
