Music: Ode to Madalena Lombardini Sirmen
Cith magnificent and melancholic music, in an admirable ode to such a little-known artist, the listener is taken to the enchanting rhythm of six duets written by the Venetian composer Madalena Lombardini Sirmen (1745-1818), in a recording held at Casa de Mateus. The excellent Bulgarian violinists Iskrena Yordanova and Zefira Valova have carried out systematic work to recover chamber music from the 18th century and, as a result, have received recognition awards for their intense activity that goes conquering an increasingly wider audience. Also acting as a musicologist, Yordanova tells us about the life and international career of Lombardini, a protean artist and a ‘Muse of Apollo’ who studied in Venice at the Ospedale del Mendicanti.
