Mark Rutte is the next Secretary General of NATO
HAGUE. The man who poses casually with passers-by in the capital of the Netherlands has been its prime minister for 14 years and is about to leave office. He heads to the Atlantic Alliance, whose 32 member states appointed him secretary general, Wednesday, with his inauguration scheduled for October 1, succeeding the Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg. The fourth Dutchman to head the organization will have the war in Ukraine and the question of who will win the American presidential elections on his agenda.
