Younger, with more money and living in cities: the pattern of electric vehicle buyers
Enthusiasm for electric cars has already begun to show signs of weakness, but it is far from over. This is what a study developed by the consultancy McKinsey tells us, which brings together data collected in February 2024 on vehicle preferences by users, as well as the biggest trends in the field of mobility, encompassing information on 15 countries at a global level: United States of America, Germany, China, Brazil, Japan, Australia, Italy, Norway, France, South Africa, United Kingdom, South Korea, Egypt, Emirates United Arabs and Saudi Arabia.
According to the report, in December 2021, 14% of respondents intended to purchase an electric car. The following year, this percentage rose to 16% and in February 2024 it increased to 18%. On the other hand, the percentage of users of combustion vehicles who do not intend to purchase an electric vehicle in the future has decreased in the last three years, going from 24% in December 2021 to 21% in December 2022 and in February 2024.
