Petition in defense of a public network of homes delivered to Parliament

The National Confederation of Retirees, Pensioners and Elderly People (MURPI) delivers this Tuesday to Parliament a petition with more than 8000 signatures demanding a public network of homes and the reinforcement of support to the elderly who remain at home.

The petition, launched in mid-April, gathered in a month and a half the support of more than 8000 signatories from across the country, who call for the creation of a Public Network of Homes with monthly payments accessible to retired people and strengthening the capabilities of the network of equipment and support services for seniors.

In a statement, MURPI highlights the lack of residential homes in Portugal with decent conditions, recalling the need for measures aimed at housing elderly people who live in a situation of dependence and without support to be able to continue living in their homes. houses.

“It is a shortage that is worsening at the national level and that has mobilized thousands of people around this petition”, highlights the confederation, explaining that today’s delivery of the petition to the Assembly of the Republic does not mean the end of the fight for the right to affordable public homes.

“We do not consider this work finished, on the contrary, we will maintain contact with everyone who wants to join”, he announces in the document.
