Boxing: Problems for Sandor Martín: Devin Haney flees his mandatory fight for a super fight
Tjust won, in a fight designed more to stay in shape and preserve the title candidacy than to value his stellar status, by KO of Mohamed El Marcouchi (29-3-0, 12KOs), Sandor Martín (41-3-0, 14 KOs) sent a message to the world of boxing: “Devin Haney (31-0-0, 15 KOs) knows I’m the fight he needs.” Beyond applying, he confirmed that he is the great alternative to the undefeated American in the super lightweight with that condition of mandatory challenger by the World Boxing Council (WBC). A new episode of glory for Spanish boxing… that could still stop and without knowing a certain date. Well, with one of those eternal problems that boxing has, Haney doesn’t want to know anything about Catalan. Her eyes are in a new super fight.

One thing does not remove the other. Boxing suffers from these internal wars between promoters, teams and fighters in order to close big fights. Haney loves them and his career already has several: Kambosos (even going to Australia twice to fight), Lomachenko and Prograis. He’s not the most entertaining fighter, but he wins. To which Ryan continues to put the possible super fight through the roof: “It’s been a long time and you know it.”

The one who would be out of the game would be Sandor Martín. Although it is not known what Haney and Garcia would agree on weight and belts at stake, The Spaniard will see his wings clipped to meet a world champion for the reign of 140 pounds. Things will change if ‘The Dream’ falls in a fight with another star on the other side and the WBC has to decide what to do with his belt and his classification in which the one from Barcelona rules.
Especially with a division with so much talent. Tefimo López can continue fighting there, Subriel Matas, José Ramírez… There are many candidates and a Spaniard is the ‘first officer’ of one of the belts.
